Study Is Hard Work

Learning basketball isn't so different than learning any other subject. The student needs to generate a big picture (overview) of the subject and then fill in the details.

  1. As a 'first cut,' the game divides into three parts - defense, offense, and conversion.
  2. Understanding the symmetry of the game. Offensively, create separation to create higher quality shots. Defensively, deny separation to allow one (or no) bad shots.
  3. Possession (having the ball) and quality possessions (what you do with the ball) define results.
  4. Movement kills defenses.
  5. Multiple efforts defensively limits offenses.
