Great Performances: UCLA/Memphis 1973

As a high school player, I loved to watch UCLA play. Our coach, Ellis (Sonny) Lane (New England Basketball HoF) incorporated many of the Bruins' strategies, and UCLA was the best college team in the land.

In the 1973 championship game, Bill Walton put on an unrivaled display of post excellence. Note the footwork, balance, and quickness. Coach Wooden used to say Wooden became great because he never tired of working on those fundamentals.

Kevin Eastman teaches, "you are responsible for your paycheck." You decide what kind of player you become according to your commitment, discipline, effort, persistence, and sacrifice.
