Defeating TONTO - 28 Special (Run the Gauntlet)



I introduced the acronym TONTO (Turnovers No Toughness) recently. I can't speak for your team, but my team needs to reduce turnovers and improve toughness against pressure. The idea is to make practice hard so games come easily. 

Here's a drill from USA Basketball. I call it 28 Special. It's a demanding pass and cut four zone drill that creates a 'gauntlet' for players to defeat. Defenders must stay in their quarter-court zone and the offensive pair must advance the ball to the end, ideally to score. In its purest form, there's no dribbling allowed. Pass and run the gauntlet.
