Individual Defensive Drills
Notes:
1) Alan Stein with sprint, backpedal, and defensive slides (all good)...Brian McCormick might add what I call "cornerback action" with hip turn into sprint. Also we need to work multiple areas of court to avoid standing in lines.
During the season, we have little practice time...and can't use it for isolated strength and conditioning.
2) Hoops U Defensive 2 on 1 drill.
Works defense and offense. Emphasis on stopping penetration and then reacting.
3) Matchup Pressure
Run the drill at both ends of the court...
Offense versus defense, creating versus denying separation...offense and defense works.
Offensive player starts with ball and defender "nose to chest".
Two dribble maximum basket attack to score.
Biggest limitation is 'static' start.
