Habits: My Take and Dorfman's

"You make your habits and your habits make you."

"Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle

Habits are reinforced choices. Our habits (e.g. study, activity, diet) define us.

The habit cycle includes cues, responses, and rewards. From The Habit Cycle.

Bad habits are hard to break. And good habits take time (about three weeks) to establish. I've discussed this in Win the Day

H.A. Dorfman shares wisdom about habits in Teaching the Mental Game.

"Creating a good habit is an act of self-discipline and persistence."

"The more an athlete can develop routines, the more confidence he can have in his preparedness."

"Winning is a habit," Vince Lombardi said. "Unfortunately, so is losing."

"Good habits represent his plan, his adjustments, and his philosophy. Habits also represent his character."

"Effective athletes recognize that their effective performances are results of preparation and execution."
