Basketball: Mastery Level HS Basketball Clips

St. Mary's is one of the top teams in Massachusetts, returning most of their key elements from a State Title winner last season. They put on a clinic. Here are clips:

Great offense is multiple actions. The top team in Massachusetts Division 3 illustrates that.

Contain the ball. Some of you saw the Kevin Eastman video yesterday with the drill "force to tape." Note how the St. Mary's guards play low and deny any penetration.

Superb skill level with combination hesi/in-and-out dribble with basket attack and finish off two feet.

Skill and patience...waiting for opportunity.

Score easy baskets in transition. Immediate recognition and the first pass crosses midcourt for a bunny. Note how the runner signals a target early.

Great defense is multiple efforts. Coming out of the timeout, St. Mary's changes defenses and gets opportunity when a guard drives into a "primary trap zone."

Live ball turnovers become high points/possession chances.

SM plays tight defense on and off the ball forcing errors.

Even solid defenses can be exposed. They switch the elbow PnR and black capitalizes on the mismatch.

Simple basketball...pound the glass.

Simple basketball...contain...and attack the ball.

Excellent teams keep attacking. They attack off a turnover, pressure the defense with cutting and ball movement...to generate great looks.

Sustain competitive advantage by leveraging athleticism with a mindset of attack.
