Motion Offense = Playing Better Basketball

Decades ago players ran "motion offense" on the playground or at the Y. We called it playing basketball. Yes, there was isolation, pick-and-roll, and some bad shot selection.

You don't simulate motion, you move. Let's examine a few ways players move.

The 'Shivek' drill works pass and cut (with two balls) and everyone shoots -one layup, one catch-and-shoot, one basket attack (against closeout defense)

"Ten Seconds to Glory" simulates floppy and adds a time dimension (end-of-clock). Posts can screen across or step up into pick-and-roll.

Against live defense...spread/5-0
Left, pass, looking for give-and-go to bury, while filling spots.
Right, pass and screen away.
Players always available for dribble attack.
Another option is pass to the wing and screen the ball. I'm not a big believer in that particular action.

Dribble at with ball side and help side actions.
