Everyone wants to spread out defenses. So much the better if you can get action going to the basket. Here are some sets from FastModelSports via Craig LeVasseur analyzing the Miami Heat.
The first two demonstrate some alternative ways to get into the side pick-and-roll. These could make it more difficult for defenses to anticipate and provide 'protection'.
2 clears from spread and 1/5 run side pick-and-roll.
Ball reversal into side pick-and-roll for 2/5.
Spread isolates the 5 as point forward with off-ball screens. If you think about relocating the 4 and 5 slightly, it resembles a distorted "horns" set. Restated, you could run "horns" actions from this modification.
