"Good artists borrow; great artists steal." - Picasso
Our greatest need area (for improvement) is shooting. No substitute exists for shooting excellence. Many elements go into great shooting. I saw the mnemonic ROBOT.
R = range (shoot in range)
O = open
B = balance
O = one-count (consistent shooting motion)
T = teammate (does a teammate have a better shot?)
Regarding balance, the great developer Alan Stein shares a series of drills here. We'll steal some for our practices this week. I used to invest about five percent of my shooting practice taking "crazy shots" (fallaways, leaners, and double pump "emergency shots") that would only come into play under extraordinary circumstances. You never know.
